Hey! I'm
Rosanne

Let me introduce myself. I was born 39 years ago in the Scheperziekenhuis in Emmen. When I was 20, I moved to the Randstad to study and after some wandering, I ended up in the wonderful Haarlem in 2009. I lived there with great pleasure and also met the love of my life. A daughter was born in 2018 and a son in 2022. Then our romantic little house in the increasingly busy city center suddenly became very cramped and I increasingly found myself fantasizing about a quieter life close to nature. To my surprise, Frank (that great love) turned out not to think that was a crazy idea at all and so it happened that in 2024 I dragged my family to my native province of Drenthe, where we found our (dream/DIY) home in Borger. I love the garden and have great vegetable garden aspirations (with the emphasis on aspirations). I also like music (from techno to classical), horses (Appaloosas), yoga, reading and cryptograms.

My Story

I worked in Haarlem as a birth photographer and have witnessed countless births up close. I myself have given birth twice with the help of HypnoBirthing, which were intense (of course), but above all very beautiful experiences. However, what I saw happening in the delivery rooms where I photographed, was often at odds with everything I had learned and experienced about birth. I often saw medical interventions that led to even more interventions, while less drastic alternatives were not considered or discussed. I saw little space and patience for the physiological process, but above all I saw fear in the women giving birth. That fear often caused these women to lose control of their delivery and become so tense that the process stagnated and they could not continue without pain relief. When I saw that they gave up all control, hoping for the best, I felt an almost irresistible urge to help these women regain their strength. However, that was not my role as a photographer.

I noticed that I was becoming more and more uncomfortable in this position and that I wanted to do more. Don't get me wrong, healthcare providers are all competent and have the best interests of women in labor at heart. I have met fantastic midwives and gynaecologists who do their work with heart and soul. However, many healthcare providers have to deal with high workloads, protocols and sometimes lack the time to approach each woman in a tailor-made way, according to her personal wishes and to respect the process of her birth by giving it the space it needs. Women and their partners will have to take much more co-responsibility for their birth for a good birthing experience. During my work I became increasingly convinced that there is still a lot to be gained in this area for women in labor:

- That with better preparation they can stand much more firmly in their shoes (and so can their partners!).

- That with the right knowledge about birth they retain control over their body and their baby and can consult with healthcare providers to weigh up options and make their own decisions.

- That with practice they can learn to relax, let go and leave the birthing to their bodies.

- And most importantly, that they can develop the sacred belief that they can give birth, that their body knows exactly what to do and that they just have to let it happen.

In short, I saw that a number of fundamental points can be greatly improved to give women a much better birth experience, namely in the areas of control, trust and relaxation. These three points are also the pillars of the course. The goal is to make women believe that they can give birth, because they can. Fortunately, I have seen the proof of that often enough :)

So I decided to make it my mission to improve the birthing experience for women. I started educating myself, trained as a HypnoBirthing teacher and started reading, listening and watching everything about pregnancy and birth. I now have an arsenal of knowledge and current scientific research and all kinds of techniques to teach women how to relax during childbirth. I want to pass on everything I know to as many people as possible so that the one (or two, three, four...) perhaps most important experience(s) in their life, has the best possible outcome for them and their baby and they can make a great start as a family.
